As you walk down the stairs to enter the middle school, you also enter an amazing area known as, “The Middle School Reading Corner”. It’s a nice, cozy, and comfortable area that the middle school students seem to enjoy. The students usually visit the reading corner about two times a week. They have a nice selection of books they can check out once a week. Just like the high school library, they can check out 3 books at a time, and have them for 3 weeks. When a student wants to check out a book their teacher will email Ms. Thomas; the book title, the 9 digit code under the barcode, the students name, and their student pin. This great idea was initiated up by Ms. Harris, the school principal. She saw the need for the students to have their own mini-library available when needed due to the separation of middle school and high school. Many students said they enjoy the reading corner, they feel relaxed when they’re there, and some even said it makes them feel special. Our librarian Ms. Thomas said, “I love the idea, the children definitely love it, and we hope to continue this idea for a long time”.
